We are looking to appoint a CLIL Science Editor to carry out the editing of projects, both printed and digital materials, ensuring sure that these materials follow our editorial standards and are produced within the established calendar and budgetary framework.

This role is based in Madrid. We work on a Hybrid model (2 days per week in the office).

Key accountabilities:

  • Prepare the content brief, based on the current legislation and market needs.
  • Carry- out a thorough content check on the author’s original work, and then create the necessary pre-layout with the appropriate tools, following the style guide (bold, italics, highlights, enumerations ...) and managing the proofreading and style correction.
  • Review and correct the drafts of the printed and digital materials, ensuring the overall accuracy of the material and efficiency of the process.
  • Select photographs to illustrate the printed or digital product, always looking for the best possible relationship between didactic quality and cost, as well as selecting any other resources already available that meet the conditions of quality and appropriate cost.
  • Review the digitization of activities and the digital product.
  • Comply with predefined dates and deadlines to ensure the completion of the project according to the schedule.
  • Anticipate risks and propose solutions to problems proactively to their superiors in the editorial organization of the department.
  • Stay within the established budgetary framework, as well as anticipate and solve problems to minimize costs.
  • Acquire thorough knowledge of educational legislation and competition publications, as well as familiarizing with the needs of teachers and students through market research conducted by Oxford Education and by the visits to educational centres, reporting the results to the organization and the department.

About you 

The successful candidate will be/have:

  • a native speaker of English and B2 in Spanish
  • a university degree in Science
  • previous experience as a primary teacher in Spain 
  • previous experience as an editor (internal or external)  is desirable
  • Good knowledge of ICT and MS Office
  • Knowledge of layout software (InCopy) image processing (Photoshop, Photofiltre, Paint), and of Adobe Pro desirable

We are looking for a Compliance Advisor, OUP Spain and Europe, to join our team in Spain to support and further embed the Oxford University Press (OUP) corporate ethics and compliance programme within the OUP Spain business. The successful candidate will also be expected to promote an ethical business culture and business success through prevention and response.

This role is based in Madrid. We work on a Hybrid model (2 days per week in the office).

Responsibilities

  • Ensure the OUP businesses in Spain and the rest of Europe have appropriate ethics and compliance, procedures and resources in place that are embedded in the business processes, guidance relating to bribery, fraud and competition law, communicated to and easily accessible by employees.
  • Actively participate in relevant project teams.
  • At least annually, support the SCO in a detailed review of the Top Down Risk Assessment for OUP Spain with appropriate stakeholders.
  • Complete due diligence requirements for new and existing third parties in responsible region(s), conducting applicable compliance checks, risk mitigation measures, and liaison with relationship managers to obtain and store appropriate documentation.
  • Per the divisional KPIs, conduct face to face training for new starters and staff in high risk roles within OUP Spain. Ensure that all colleagues take part in annual ethical online training, and other exercises.
  • Work with the business to ensure that all high-risk business activities and ethical marketing activities in the responsible region(s) are identified and that appropriate due diligence has been carried out in accordance with the High Risk Business Activity and Ethical Marketing policies.
  • Review gifts and hospitality and charitable giving submissions, in accordance with defined thresholds. Ensure that conflicts of interest are mitigated in accordance with Group policies and procedures.
  • Report quarterly and annually to the SCO on KPIs and key issues related to the Programme across Spain.
  • Meet with business partners, including distributors, to reinforce OUP’s commitment to ethical business practices. Manage day-to-day questions from employees and business partners regarding acceptable business practices and compliance with relevant policies.
  • Conduct and provide support on investigations as required.

About You

The successful candidate will need to possess the following skills, qualifications and experience:

  • At least two years Ethics and compliance experience (professional qualification preferred)
  • Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal skills and the ability to work with all levels of management and colleagues, including executive leadership
  • Experience of managing own workload
  • Highly organized and able to communicate effectively and confidently and collaborate with team members and other cross-divisional colleagues
  • Discrete and trustworthy as required to work with sensitive and confidential information
  • Ability to adapt to a diverse range of situations and surroundings
  • Broad knowledge of corporate processes, systems and organizational structures
  • High personal integrity and excellent judgment
  • Willingness to travel overseas (infrequent)
