We are looking for an Ethics and Compliance Manager to join our team in Spain to support and further embed the OUP corporate ethics and compliance programme within the ELT business, and specifically, in Spain, Turkey and Central Asia. The successful candidate will also be expected to promote an ethical business culture and business success through prevention and response.  In addition, this role coordinates and delivers appropriate training and wellbeing activities for the region.

This role is based in Madrid. We work on a Hybrid model (2 days per week in the office).


  • Ensure the ELT businesses in Spain, Turkey and Central Asia have appropriate ethics and compliance guidance, procedures and resources in place that are embedded in the business processes, communicated to and easily accessible by employees.
  • Actively participate in ELT’s Senior Management Teams and other relevant project teams.
  • At least annually, engage in a detailed review of the Top Down Risk Assessment for Spain, Turkey and Central Asia with appropriate stakeholders.
  • Complete due diligence requirements for new and existing third parties in responsible region(s), conducting applicable compliance checks, risk mitigation measures, and liaison with relationship managers to obtain and store appropriate documentation.
  • Per the divisional KPIs, conduct face to face training for new starters and staff in high risk roles within Spain and Turkey.  Ensure that all colleagues take part in annual ethical online training, and other exercises.
  • Work with the business to ensure that all high-risk business activities and ethical marketing activities in the responsible region(s) are identified and that appropriate due diligence has been carried out in accordance with the High Risk Business Activity and Ethical Marketing policies.
  • Review gifts and hospitality and charitable giving submissions, in accordance with defined thresholds. Ensure that conflicts of interest are mitigated in accordance with Group policies and procedures.
  • Report quarterly and annually to the DECO on KPIs and key issues related to the Programme across Spain, Turkey and Central Asia.
  • Meet with business partners, including distributors, to reinforce OUP’s commitment to ethical business practices. Manage day-to-day questions from employees and business partners regarding acceptable business practices and compliance with relevant policies.
  • Conduct and provide support on investigations as required.

About You

The successful candidate will need to possess the following skills, qualifications and experience:

  • At least five years Ethics and compliance experience (professional qualification preferred)
  • Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal skills and the ability to work with all levels of management and colleagues, including executive leadership.
  • Experience of managing own workload
  • Highly organized and able to communicate effectively and confidently and collaborate with team members and other cross-divisional colleagues.
  • Discrete and trustworthy as required to work with sensitive and confidential information.
  • Ability to adapt to a diverse range of situations and surroundings.
  • Broad knowledge of corporate processes, systems, and organizational structures
  • High personal integrity and excellent judgment
  • Willingness to travel overseas (infrequent)

Las principales responsabilidades incluyen:

  • Promocionar y vender todos los productos de la compañía en los clientes asignados dentro del marco comercial establecido.
  • Planificar y ejecutar la actividad diaria en los clientes según lo establecido en el plan de ventas.
  • Detectar y comunicar las necesidades específicas de los clientes, con el objetivo de adaptarnos de manera más cercana a sus necesidades.
  • Registro de la actividad a través de los sistemas establecidos en la compañía, y actualizar la información de mercado de la zona asignada.
  • Ser el/la interlocutor/a válido/a de la compañía en cada uno de los clientes, actuando de manera coherente según los valores e imagen de la compañía, y poniendo en valor la formación adecuada en mercado y productos.

Aptitudes y conocimientos deseados

  • Experiencia comercial.
  • Manejo de nuevas tecnologías y sistemas.
  • Nivel mínimo de inglés requerido A2.
  • Profesional resolutivo/a, con liderazgo e iniciativa.
  • Proactividad comercial, organización y planificación a medio / largo plazo.
  • Excelentes habilidades comunicativas y de negociación, capacidad para detectar necesidades y escucha activa.
  • Orientación a objetivos y al trabajo en equipo.
