Pinewood Academy is an expensive school in the most fashionable part of town – and scholarship kids like Liza and her friends Marco and Suki aren’t always welcome there. There’s a lot of talk when Liza begins dating good-looking Alex, the most popular boy in her year. But is anyone really angry enough to poison him and make Liza look like his murderer? While Alex lies in a hospital bed with his life in danger, Liza is questioned by the police. As she thinks about everything that happened before the poisoning, she begins to see reasons for people to want her out of the way. Who can she really trust?
