We are looking to appoint a new General Manager in Spain, reporting directly to the Managing Director, English Language Teaching, and serving as a key member of the ELT Senior Leadership Team with a significant influence on the future success of both Spain and the wider division.
The role is responsible for developing and implementing the business strategy for OUP España, aligned with the ELT divisional strategy, and for delivering sustainable growth. The successful candidate will have full accountability for the branch P&L, while leading a highly capable team and ensuring Oxford remains strongly positioned in a dynamic and evolving education market.
Working closely with colleagues across the ELT division and Group Functions, the General Manager will shape strategic priorities, build key external relationships, drive innovation and digital transformation, and identify new growth opportunities across products, services, partnerships and assessment solutions. They will be instrumental in scanning the market, identifying opportunities, managing risks and ensuring the highest standards of ethical conduct.
The main responsibilities will be:
- Monitor market circumstances and assess risks and opportunities for OUP España, evolving strategy in line with divisional and Group priorities.
- Develop and deliver a clear business vision, strategy and five-year plan to ensure sustainable growth.
- Take full accountability for branch revenue, profitability, investment decisions and overall business performance.
- Drive sustainable revenue growth by expanding Oxford’s presence in assessment, partnerships, digital services and integrated learning solutions, broadening the revenue base beyond traditional curriculum cycles.
- Oversee the development and execution of effective sales and commercial strategies, identifying new market segments and opportunities for growth.
- Lead innovation and digital transformation initiatives, ensuring that emerging technologies, including AI, are used to enhance customer value, operational effectiveness and business performance.
- Ensure effective marketing of OUP products and services and maintain a strong customer-centric approach across the business.
- Develop, empower and engage the OUP España team, creating a culture of collaboration, accountability and continuous improvement, and ensuring a positive and inclusive working environment.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with key external stakeholders, including educational institutions, distributors, partners and industry bodies.
- Ensure OUP España complies fully with OUP governance standards and all relevant legal, financial, regulatory and ethical requirements.
- Collaborate effectively with colleagues across the ELT division, Group Functions and the wider organisation, contributing actively to the ELT Senior Leadership Team.
Requirements
- Experienced senior leader with a track record of operating at divisional board or executive level.
- Demonstrated leadership across commercial and/or functional areas within educational publishing, education technology, assessment, learning services or related education markets.
- Proven ability to develop and execute strategy and drive sustainable business growth.
- Strong commercial acumen, with experience of managing P&Ls and leading significant business development initiatives.
- Ability to influence and engage senior stakeholders across a matrix organisation.
- A trusted and credible leader with a strong record of building external partnerships and customer relationships.
- A people-focused leader who can set direction, develop talent and empower teams to succeed.
- Fluent Spanish and English speaker.

Dependiendo de la jefe regional, será responsable de la coordinación del equipo comercial de la zona de País Vasco, así como de la promoción y comercialización de nuestros productos en una cartera de clientes y territorio asignados en la zona.

- Registro de la actividad a través de los sistemas establecidos en la compañía, y actualizar la información de mercado de la zona asignada.
- Ser el/la interlocutor/a válido/a de la compañía en cada uno de los clientes, actuando de manera coherente según los valores e imagen de la compañía, y poniendo en valor la formación adecuada en mercado y productos.

We are looking to appoint a new Product Director, Spanish Product, reporting to the Divisional Product Strategy Director, with a dotted line to the Managing Director of OUP Spain.
This role is responsible for making a significant contribution to business growth by developing, adapting, and delivering a portfolio of product and services that address the needs of existing and potential customer segments in the Spanish market. The role must devise and deliver winning product strategies and effectively manage the lifecycles of the products and services in the portfolio. This includes, but is not restricted to local content, imported content, assessment and consultancy services. This role will also be responsible for researching and anticipating market trends, creating an intimacy with the key customer segments that will enable us to develop appropriate solutions to unmet needs and provide us with a competitive advantage.
This role will be a member of the OUP España Senior Management Team as well as the Divisional Product Team Senior Management Team and will be responsible for adopting global approaches and processes to maximise efficiencies and economies of scale as well as supporting the team in creating divisional solutions for different customer segments
The main responsibilities will be:
- Lead a diverse team of content developers and product managers in the definition, development and implementation of annual and longer-range product strategies, plans and objectives.
- Identify opportunities for all OUP España content areas via new business models, new ways to reach existing markets, or via innovative new product or service ideas.
- Direct the creation of front list publishing for local curriculum to ensure it is commercial, market focused and competitively positioned.
- Collaborate with UK ELT product team to help shape and develop a pipeline of successful products.
- Collaborate with Marketing and Sales to develop the product promotion strategy and sales training plan.
- Input into the market research strategy and teacher training plan.
- Ensure operational effectiveness and successful implementation of change.
- Seek out business development synergies with other OUP divisions.
- Provide strong leadership to attract, develop and retain staff, and to create a healthy business culture consistent with OUP’s code of conduct and ethical standards.
Requirements:
- Highly experienced, commercially astute, decisive and action-oriented senior manager.
- Experience in leading large teams and major programmes to incorporate effective methodological and pedagogical approaches in educational content.
- Strong knowledge of the Spanish educational market.
- Experience working with key technologies and learning initiatives affecting education and publishing today including Learning Management Systems.
- Highly developed team-building skills and people management skills, with experience managing motivating and empowering large teams.
- Fluent Spanish and English speaker, with excellent communication and collaboration skills.

Funciones principales:
- Preparar originales del autor, realizando premaquetaciones, correcciones ortotipográficas y estilísticas, asegurando el cumplimiento del currículo educativo vigente.
- Revisar y corregir materiales impresos y digitales, garantizando la máxima calidad en los contenidos.
- Seleccionar fotografías y recursos adecuados para materiales impresos y digitales, equilibrando calidad didáctica y costos.
- Supervisar la digitalización de actividades y la publicación de productos digitales.
- Planificar y cumplir con los plazos y presupuestos establecidos, anticipando riesgos y proponiendo soluciones efectivas.
- Mantenerte al día con la legislación educativa, la competencia y las necesidades de profesores y estudiantes.
Requisitos:
- Formación en Geografía e Historia (Máster o posgrados en Edición serán valorados).
- Experiencia de más de tres años en edición
- Conocimiento avanzado en TIC y MS Office. Manejo de InCopy, Photoshop y Acrobat a nivel usuario.
